FIZZIPINS ARTWEEKS 2014

Those who visited us during Oxfordshire Artweeks in May will know what a wonderful space we have in Tam's house to exhibit our work.  This year we will be joined by Amanda Hislop, textile artist.  See more about Amanda below.

We we delighted to be holding our Artweeks Christmas Exhibition weekend with our friend Vital Peeters who lives just around the corner.ar

This is a great opportunity to come and choose some really special and unique Christmas gifts from the people who make them.  We have lovely stoneware pottery from Tam, wonderful textile pictures by Amanda, beautiful work in glass and stone by Vital and of course lots of my new corsages and jewellery to tempt you.

Tam Frishberg

Tam makes wheel thrown stoneware pottery in her home studio. Having grown up next to the Pacific Ocean in California, she is inspired by landscapes and has developed adistinctive and minimalistic style. “I take more pleasure from the form than the decoration and I love the idea that people are using what I have made,” she explained.

Her work has been sold in various galleries and she exhibits regularly with the Oxfordshire Craft Guild.

Amanda Hislop

Amanda combines drawn and painted marks with the tactile qualities of thread, paper and fabric. The essence of the landscape and natural forms inspire her work. She uses drawing to record fleeting fragments observed and absorbed; she looks at the familiar, sees the extraordinary and responds to subtle changes in view in the rhythmic motion of walking. The evocative moods of seasonal change and atmospheric qualities of light and changing weather experienced when walking are a constant source of inspiration.

Vital Peeters

Vital graduated from Oxford Brookes University in Fine Art and History of Art in 1987. He started his Glass Studio in Oxford in 1990.

He uses a wide variety of glass techniques which include fusing, sandblasting, painting and etching for the numerous architectural work as well as casting and slumping.

In 2000, he started carving stone as well. Most recently, he has explored clay, sculptureand drawing.

His glass studio and sculpture garden are open to the public every year for the Oxford Artweeks Festival in May and November.
